Won’t you Come Fly With Me on a Journey to Inspiring Others!…

Come fly with me

We talk about going on a journey in our lives, in our businesses and with personal relationships just to name a few! Who said that the word “journey” is a well worn one but doesn’t it  sum up what we mean so well.

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step” [Lao-tze Tao Te Ching]

Well, I can tell from my own experiences that since 1998 when Google was created and since I joined Amway in 1994 I have been on a very long journey in the world of the interweb! In those early days I used my internet business as a “paying hobby” and never took it seriously. There were many social events and local meetings and you made friends – all very cozy but at the end of the day what sort of return did you attract on your investment of money and time! Then in 2010 I retired from my offline business and realised that we could not just live comfortably on our pension fund! So for these past three years I have been trying all sorts of opportunities to find “our pot of gold!” Like tens of thousands of “retired” people, we’ve carried on working.

As I stated in my last blog – “Then one day it dawns on you – here it is! How do you know? You feel really good about yourself, you know where you are going and what you’ve got to do! Now, that’s what they call being inspired by all the possibilities that have suddenly hit you between the eyes!!” Click here

Well, I’ve had one ‘well!’ of a week full of all sorts of challenges and spoken to many friends about where I should go from here. They have been most helpful in helping me come to some serious decisions about my future online business. More and more people of “The Third Age” will be making this journey as they find it harder to make ends meet.

As thousands of people face a future of uncertainty what are they going to do to supplement their income? Well, there is no doubt that many opportunities exist for retired people or those looking to retire whether it would be an online or offline business and in some cases a mixture of both!

As you will see from my latest youtube video, I have come a long way to find out the best way forward. From my own experience I might be able to help you on your journey to a better  future!

The journey has been hard but keep at it. Challenges help you to go the extra mile – keep on going regardless of what is thrown at you. To be honest, I recorded this video several times because I was not happy with the results.

The speaking part was okay but singing presents a whole new range of challenges. I remember in one session of the film “Singing in the Rain” there were 32 takes before achieving perfection. My takes were somewhat less than that but with singing it is amazing how much preparation is required – perhaps the subject of a future blog.

I did not realise that recording “Come Fly With Me” was going to be so difficult compared with “Beyond the Sea” which only took one take! When you sing “Frank Sinatra” songs you begin to realise what a genius he was – he made the song seem is easy and effortless but always strove for perfection – nothing less would do.  Thankfully we have hundreds of songs recorded by Sinatra.

Why one take as against so many takes! I suppose there are a good number of reasons but primarily you have to take a chance and go for it! Proper breath control helps especially with romantic ballads or a change in swing!   I have my own favourites which I tend to do fairly effortlessly whereas some requests may present a challenge but I’m always up for it!

Let me have your request with a line or two describing why you want this sung!

Build. Lead. Inspire

Terrific, John. I like your singing and your guts in singing that Sinatra classic. Your chuckling and smiling during the song are a great part of the fun, and especially the tag line, “Don’t tell your mom.”
Along with the masses of fun in the song, it has a serious side for us retiree-preneurs: The world is big, beautiful, fun, let’s get out and enjoy it, let’s fly.
