With your Lifetime of Knowledge and Experience let It be Your Starting Point! ..Day 5

 Success just doesn't come

You have more knowledge and experience than you ever thought possible. You just don’t know how valuable the skills are that you have developed over the decades: business, general and specialist activities, hobbies, travelling the world, talking to people from all walks of life etc. This is an endless list and you are an expert in one or more of these areas and you don’t always realise it. How about giving yourself a short test:-

  • List subjects that interest you and identify the one thing above all others that interests you most of all and feel that you have a lot of knowledge about it
  • Repeat this exercise for the next topic in order of preference
  • Repeat it again
  • Then leave it to one side for the time being

What you will find, unless you are dead from the neck up, is that this little exercise has sparked off your subconscious in remembering so much stuff that you have been carrying around for years and it wants to tell you all about it! So keep digging down into your subconscious to add other topics to your list. This is so powerful that you might have sufficient information to write a book!

Retirement writing books

This is an opportunity to make your ideas work for you and turn into a reality.

  • Write down what you know about your expertise and experience
  • Start with headings and explain briefly what your subject is and your interest in it
  • Also describe briefly what knowledge you have gained over the years

How about writing a book about you own specialist knowledge and experience? It could be about business or a hobby. It is amazing how so often other people want to know what you know.

Great post! I’m currently having a bit of a wobble about where I want to go and what I want to concentrate in so you know what?I’m going to get some paper and a pen this evening and take your test! Thanks for sharing.

Hi John, I love your advise. It is so true. We discount what we know thinking there is nothing special there. In reality others would find our knowledge of great benefit. :-)

  3. Thanks John, food for thought. I have so many things I want to blog about – regular blogging has been like opening the flood gates. Maybe a book would be in order?

So true John and great post. When you have experience and passion about it anybody can help others that want to learn that experience. That’s something very important for people to think about creating something special in their lives. Have a great day John !

Thanks for this John. One thing is certain, all of us know a lot more than we think we know. The best way to find out about ourselves is to ask someone else, but how many of us do it? Good advice to see how we progress to find out what we actually DO know.
    Thanks for sharing

When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I
get three e-mails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that
    service? Thank you!

Sorry I do not know what that is. I would think it is only something you can do.

I have never heard of this before. It must be something you originated – beyond my control.

Hi Cynthia, many thanks for your comments. I started a series of these blogs but unfortunately I had to postpone all this as other things in life got in the way.
Anyway, I always try to give good content in my blogs and have some great plans for the immediate future. Please continue to follow me and you won’t be disappointed. I see you are doing that – good!
Please let me know if I can help you in any way.
I think my real strength is article content and am concentrating on that very much as you will see.
      Cheers John
