Do you want to be a Frankel?

Do you want to be a Frankel?

“Like Frankel at Ascot recently, he almost had a false start and was behind the other horses for much of the race, but everyone had confidence in what he would achieve. He caught up with the rest of the field very quickly and finished as the clear winner in a most inspirational way.”

The article refers to a horse but when you have read the following extracts from The Telegraph you will feel inspired about what you could do with your future. I don’t mean run a race at Ascot but be inspired to do wondrous things in your life!

Just visualise how your life could be in the future?

Winning feeling: Frankel is given a big hug by jockey Tom Queally

Frankel wins Champion Stakes at Ascot to claim 14th win of unbeaten career and cement his title as ‘the greatest’ – The Telegraph 24th October 2012

“And then he was gone. Frankel, the greatest racehorse in a generation, if not ever, bowed out with an unblemished record of 14 wins from 14 starts when he took the QIPCO British Champions Stakes here by a length and three-quarters from last year’s winner Cirrus Des Aigles on Saturday.

It may not, pound for pound, have been the most impressive of those 14 wins and nothing like the 11 lengths by which he demolished a high-class field of milers in the Queen Anne Stakes on his previous visit to Ascot.

But in its way it was just as remarkable as any because he had to cope with heavy ground, an anathema to horses in possession of such speed and with such a fluent action, and his triumphant return to the winner’s enclosure produced a cheer from the often staid Ascot to put the Cheltenham Festival to shame.

“You don’t see Formula One cars winning on anything other than tarmac,” said jockey Tom Queally summing it up succinctly. “It shows what we’ve been dealing with.”

In the wrong hands, Frankel could have gone the wrong way. Queally recalled a gallop early in his career when he “pulled my arms out for four furlongs and then ran away for the next four”.

But Sir Henry Cecil has trained the colt to switch off to such an extent that yesterday, despite the tense atmosphere and the 32,000 pumping hearts of those in the packed grandstands who had come to witness this swansong, the colt was half-asleep when the stalls opened, causing him to give the opposition a two-length head start.

However, as we have become accustomed when watching Frankel, he cruised up to the leaders in the straight. A huge roar went up when it became clear that Queally was sitting motionless while Olivier Peslier on the French challenger and William Buick on Nathaniel were hard at work. Frankel still coasted to about a furlong and a half out at which point Queally asked him to put the race to bed.

Nathaniel, who had last met Frankel when they were effectively newboys at a primary school in a Newmarket maiden, again covered himself in glory back in third.

“He has so much class,” said Queally whose joy was tinged with the sadness that for him at any rate the Frankel story had run its course. “A bit of 4×4 kicked in today. When he missed the break I thought ‘well, I know what I’m riding I’m not going to worry about a length’. At the finish I gave him one crack because I wasn’t going to let him get complacent in that ground. He didn’t bounce on it like he normally does and I noticed that going to the start.”

Cecil concurred with Queally. “He laboured on the ground and wasn’t happy,” he said, “but he was very relaxed. I have probably got him too relaxed – it used to be the other way. I have enjoyed every moment of training him although it has been stressful at times. He’s the best I’ve ever had and the best I’ve ever seen.”

So, having illuminated the sport of kings for three glorious years and put racing on the front pages for the right reasons, Frankel, the horse of our lifetime, now retires to his owner’s stud. It was great while it lasted.”

BUT WE HAVE A WHOLE LIFETIME AHEAD OF US TO ACHIEVE WHATEVER WE WANT TO DO! It is just a question of making choices – the right choices!
