Karaoke Nicky Holder Slade_Merry_Xmas_everybody image “Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?” so the song goes and now we are beginning to wish Merry Christmas Everybody!

This the time you remember, reflect, have religious thoughts or just being with the ones you love to recreate past moments to treasure especially at Christmas time. So once again this is Christmas!

We reflect on what we have done and others are inspired by those who work so hard for charity whilst others reflect on how lucky they are to have friends and family around them and perhaps a little thought for those you have given your heart to in the past! It is so wonderful to celebrate another Christmas so here it is, Merry Christmas,

Everybody’s having fun and look to the future now it’s only just begun! I have put together a small  collection of ten of my own favourite songs and may be a bonus issue or two, and hope you like them.

The music and the words are given below for your pleasure. This fifth one reflects the future and it’s only just begun!– so you have no choice but to sing along! as follows:-

Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall?

It’s the time that every Santa has a ball

Does he ride a red nosed reindeer?

Does a ‘ton up’ on his sleigh

Do the fairies keep him sober for a day?

Chorus: So here it is merry Christmas

Everybody’s having fun

Look to the future now

It’s only just begun

Are you waiting for the family to arrive?

Are you sure you got the room to spare inside?

Does your granny always tell ya that the old songs are the best?

Then she’s up and rock ‘n’ rollin’ with the rest

Chorus: So here it is merry Christmas

Everybody’s having fun

Look to the future now It’s only just begun

What will your daddy do

When he sees your Mama kissin’ Santa Claus? Ah ah

Are you hanging up a stocking on your wall? A

re you hoping that the snow will start to fall?

Do you ride on down the hillside in a buggy you have made?

When you land upon your head then you’ve been slayed

Chorus (3x) So here it is merry Christmas

Everybody’s having fun                                                                                                                    Look to the future now

“Merry Xmas Everybody” is a 1973 song by the English rock band Slade.

Written by lead vocalist and guitarist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, and produced by Chas Chandler, it was the band’s sixth number-one single in the UK. It earned the UK Christmas Number One slot in December 1973, beating another Christmas-themed song, Wizzard’s “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday”, which reached fourth place.

By mid-January it was still at number one; it stayed in the UK Singles Chart well into February 1974. Based on melodies from discarded songs written six years before, “Merry Xmas Everybody” was Slade’s best-selling single, released at the peak of their popularity, and sold over a million copies upon its first release. It is Slade’s last number-one single, but by far their most successful.

It has been released during every decade since 1973, and has been covered by numerous artists. In a 2007 poll, “Merry Xmas Everybody” was voted the UK’s most popular Christmas song.
